Websites Prepare to Break as Browsers Reach Version 100

Google is slated to release Chrome version 100 in March, while Microsoft and Mozilla are also releasing version 100 for their respective web browsers in the coming months. These three browsers are some of the world's most popular pieces of web navigation software, and as such, many websites were designed intertwined with support for these browsers.
In an error that is reminiscent of the Y2K craze of 1999, Google predicts that the update to version 100, and the associated move from a two-digit to a three-digit version number, may cause a number of errors for a multitude of websites. In order to prepare for this upcoming change, Google has released a flag that allows web developers to simulate the use of version number 100 on their website to see if it works.
If a number of websites report errors caused by the version number 100 update, Google has announced it's contingency plan is to release a flag that freezes the version number at 99 until a better solution can be created.
