The choose your own adventure game premise has been reinvented time and time again in book and digital formats, but the Episode App brings something new to the table. The app lets users play from a series of stories, but the truly interesting part of the app is that it also enables users to create their own scripts, animate characters, add music, sound effects and weave complex story lines.
While the app itself is compatible on Apple and Android devices, the story-building part of the game requires access to a computer and a Google Plus account. From there, storywriters are able to give script direction from a computer and view the action on a mobile device. Within the platform, writers are also able to connect with fans and respond to feedback.
As it stands, the Episode app and story writing platform is completely free to use. Episode also remarks that it is "exploring a variety of partnership options that may apply to those works published and promoted as featured stories on the platform."
