'Chola Girl' is a recent series by photographer Ashley Champaigne, art director Nicola Gavins and typographer Nathan Marshal. Of course, the series wouldn't be complete without its muse and this role is performed by Model Steph Del Abla (Mode Models) who plays a 'Chola' girl.
Chola girls is a named applied to female gangsters, usually in latino neighborhoods of major American cities. Though this subject is decidedly risque, the series is still quite elegant. This is no doubt due to Champaigne's keen eye as a photographer as well as Marshal's tasteful styling decisions.
Many of the shots actually stray away from the Chola girl look and adopt simply a straight ahead fashion editorial approach. Though these are not as punchy as the others, they are beautiful.
