Mondelez International announced that its standard chocolate chip Chips Ahoy! cookies will now be made with a new recipe designed to improve the flavor and texture of the cookies. According to Mondelez, the new recipe features more cocoa, a higher concentration of vanilla extract, and an overall creamier and more rich taste.
According to Sabrina Sierant, the senior director for Chips Ahoy!, the decision to change the recipe was not made lightly, as the brand wanted to preserve the iconic flavor that made its chips popular while also improving the recipe for new fans and for fans with alteration suggestions. Sierant stated that the recipe took "testing more than 60 recipes — and 5,000 hours in the kitchen" to finalize.
The Chips Ahoy! chocolate chip cookie packs will feature a branded banner that states the package has been formulated using the new recipe, allowing for customers to identify when the new cookies are available in their local grocery stores.
