Istanbul-based design studio Bilgin Architects is the powerhouse behind the Central Control Building design. It is defined by its shimmering facade comprised of mirrored steel panels. The building is located in Karapinar, Turkey, which is a hub for the continent's largest solar farms.
The farm means to create a centralized area to help control and monitor the large field of 3.2 million solar panels on site. It is designed as a study of contrasts as the metallic facade is meant to reflect and juxtapose the textures around the location. Founding partner Caner Bilgin tells Dezeen, "Thanks to the high reflectance levels of the facades, the building becomes integrated with the geography it inhabits. The silhouette of the horizon continues on the facades."
