Mexico-based design studio Colectivo C733 designs the new Casa de Música, which is a brick music school located in Nacajuca, Mexico. The space is made up of two structures including a lofty cantilevered roof that is most notably made from coconut wood materials. The studio explains the design project, noting that it “provides a space for social gatherings with warm materials and natural ventilation, while musicians benefit from spacious, isolated classrooms with state-of-the-art equipment."
The two structures are connected together through a public boulevard as the larger section functions as an open-plan community center. It has a large offset gable roof with one plane extending over the ridge line. The west side of the structure has rectangular glass panels that protect it from the streets.
