These incredibly realistic and detailed paintings by Caitlin Doherty are part of a collection called ‘Learn to Multiply.’ The inspiration behind the title comes from SX70 Polaroids and vintage photos from the 70’s.
These modern art pieces are created with a technique known as “mixed media,” because it incorporates two techniques. Doherty starts her process by shopping for old vintage photos at garage sales and flea markets. She then uses a method called collage to slightly change the photos and then she paints over them. What really makes her pieces stand out is the fact that she uses the main character in each photo and duplicates and layers them to give it her own spin.
The ‘Learn to Multiply’ collection by Caitlin Doherty create beautiful and distinctly crafted vintage pieces.
