The Nutcracker is an absolute classic that brings in huge audiences every year, and this time The Brooklyn Ballet is trying to do things slightly different. Instead of using regular costuming, the company is installing motion-sensing LED lights. That way, when the dancers move, so do the lights, bring the costumes to life.
The project is still not complete, with The Brooklyn Ballet raising funds on Kickstarter, but either way it's a great idea. This is a perfect example of traditional art forms using modern technology to enhance the audience's experience, and make the most out of contemporary gadgets. Perhaps next year the entire performance will be done in the dark, with only LED lights to guide the way!
