Klemens Schillinger's Off-Grid Lamp is a modernist lighting accessory that is designed with sustainability in mind. Encouraging users to rethink their electricity consumption, the lamp is charged manually and was created for Austrian castle Schloss Hollenegg, an art and design-nurturing institution where Schillinger is a resident.
Inspired by the castle's limited electricity, Klemens Schillinger came up with a crank generator that must be powered by hand. Featuring a brass shade and a milled aluminum body in a bright green shade, the Off-Grid lamp fuses vintage and contemporary design details.
The lamp is equipped with both wall-mounted and standalone tabletop charging stations and is powered by a small battery and LED bulbs. Its lamps can be charged manually, with just one minute of charge resulting in over six minutes of power.
