Pharrell Williams has been a busy guy as of late and one of his newest ventures includes lighting design. The unusual lamp was created as part of the 10th anniversary celebrations for the Bourgie table lamp by Ferruccio Laviani, where Kartell invited 19 designers to create their own unique interpretations of the lamps as one-offs. Pharrell was one of the five Americans asked to make a contribution to the project and there's no doubt that his take is a unique one.
When describing his lamp, Pharrell gets pretty deep: "I used a human arm to represent the will of mankind in the daily plight of escaping the 'shade' and the challenges of attempting to get closer to enlightenment."
If you happen to be in New York, Pharrell's artful lamp is on display for the week at the Kartell's SoHo showroom on Greene Street.
