Bosch Autonomous Driving Technology was Introduced at CES 2015
Alyson Wyers — January 6, 2015 — Autos
As announced at CES 2015, Bosch autonomous driving technology makes cars capable of driving themselves in a traffic jam. The system is being integrated into Jeep Cherokee vehicles at CES to demonstrate how manufacturers can help drivers in snail-paced stop and go traffic. No official partners have been named yet, but Bosch did mention the system will be incorporated into European cars by the end of the year.
Once the Bosch autonomous driving system is turned on by the driver, it knows to follow the car ahead of it and to proceed with caution. Bosch claims their self-driving technology is safer than relying on human decision-making in this kind of traffic. Using cameras, predictive emergency brakes, radar technology and sensors the system has a faster reaction time than the human brain does.
