It's places like the island of Bonaire that make me think that my pristine paradise is out there somewhere. This island within the Netherlands Antilles will be the first in the Caribbean to run on 100% sustainable energy.
The flagship of the entire operation is the wind farm, which can produce enough energy for Bonaire's 15,000 permanent residents on its own.
Implications - If you would like to be a part of a community with a really low negative impact on the environment, you might want to hop on a plane to get to Bonaire. Hopefully this movement will spread to other islands and eventually whole countries. Environmentalists just got a new vacation destination!
