The CBD-100 is an innovative and high-tech bomb detector device that is designed to back up and supplement existing security procedures, many of which are reliant on metal detectors.
This contraption, which is about the size of a box of cereal, is mounted on a tripod when in use. It works by bouncing wave signals off people and analyzing polarized signals to assess whether the person may be carrying a bomb with them. It only takes 1.3 seconds to analyze each individual, and can work from a distance of 2.7 meters. The current version of the device requires the assessed individual to be stationary, but future versions are expected to be able to scan people on the move and from greater distances.
