The new BMW X1 is a crossover vehicle that is best described as an all-wheel-drive hatchback on steroids. This beast has a much bigger body and significantly more efficient engine than its predecessor. The main change with this vehicle is the introduction of front wheel drive.
Some people might understandably be a bit averse to the idea of a front-wheel drive BMW so for those people, the entry-level petrol engine is also available with xDrive all-wheel drive. This setup makes the car just marginally slower.
