Hulu Unveils the Black Lives Matter: A People's History Doc
Amy Duong — May 13, 2024 — Social Media
Hulu presents its latest documentary dubbed Black Lives Matter: A People's History, which is an adapted namesake from Jason Parham's Wired article. The article explored the rise of a social media community and the global influence that has built from it. The documentary is comprised of three engaging episodes in which it explores Black culture and the social impact that grew on Twitter.
Prentice Penny, director of the series explains, "The way I would define Black Twitter is a space where Black culture specifically was hanging out in a digital way. And even though it was a public space — clearly, it's Twitter, anybody can get on it — it still felt like you were having conversations with your friends that are like on the back of the bus. Or like on the stoop, or in the lunchroom. I mean, that's the energy of it."
