Eco-alternative trees are all around us this year so it's not surprising that the Bermondsey Square Christmas Tree in London has been made out of recycled bike parts.
The Bermondsey Square Christmas Tree, designed by Sarah Wigglesworth Architects, is made up of 35 wheels from used bikes borrowed from the UK-based charity Re-Cycle. The sustainable tree can also be dismantled and stored for use season after season, but plans have been made to return the wheels back to Re-Cycle after the holidays, so that they can be reconditioned into bikes and used for transportation by locals in Africa.
