OTW by Vans joins forces with Beatrice Domond on a new style: the Vans Mary Jane DS is made as a nod to Beatrice's style and her personal career rooted in skateboarding. The silhouette takes a classic Vans Mary Jane model and gives it a modern update with a rugged accent at the outsole unit.
Construction features a premium leather and suede finish throughout the upper in a monochromatic black hue with goatskin linings -- this is a direct nod to Beatrice's heritage and her childhood in a Haitian family. The shoe's inside also referenced her backstory as a digitally printed map of Haiti is on the sock liner. The packaging pays homage to a retro theme and is finished with her signature and custom logo.
Beatrice Domond notes, “For this project I wanted to show my community another side of me, I don’t think anyone really knows I have Haitian ancestry. “It’s also to pay homage to my grandma and mother because this shoe is a really big deal for me – if it wasn’t for them, I don’t believe I would be having such amazing opportunities."
