The BBC Sport 360 App Will Give Viewers a 360-Degree View of the Games

The new BBC Sport 360 app will give viewers unprecedented coverage of the upcoming Rio Olympic Games.
The BBC Sport 360 app will show one live event and a highlights reel each day of the Olympic Games. Live event coverage includes volleyball, boxing, basketball and fencing. The Opening and Closing ceremonies will also be available for viewing on the app. Up to four different angles will be available to view the events through, so users can move around the event space as the action is happening. The app will provide a unique view of the Olympic Games for those unable to attend in Rio.
The 360 app is accessible on iOS, Android and Samsung's Gear VR headset. BBC trial tested the 360 viewing capability during the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. If the app is successful it will likely be used for other sports coverage after the Olympic Games.
