WHILL will make its autonomous wheelchair available in a number of different North American airports, including airports located in Dallas and Winnipeg. Previously this year, the company made its autonomous wheelchair available at airports located in Tokyo and Abu Dhabi.
WHILL's wheelchair is able to use sensors and automated brakes to identify potential obstacles and move accordingly. Satoshi Suige, Founder and Chief Executive of the company spoke on airport accessibility, "We are now providing an opportunity for travelers with reduced mobility to have a sense of independence as they move about the airport and get from point A to point B as smoothly as possible.”
