Over the years, Trader Joe's has made a name for its limited-edition Small Lot coffees and its new Arroyo Bonito Estate Dominican Republic Small Lot Coffee is no exception.
Just as the name suggests, the new Arroyo Bonito Estate Dominican Republic Small Lot Coffee is made from beans sourced from the Arroyo Bonito Estate in the Dominican Republic's mountainous central region. The estate is located 4,500 feet above sea level and contains a fertile mountain soul that produces exceptional coffee beans. After harvesting, the sweet, coffee cherries are dried in the sun for 21 days, lowly milled to crack the outer husks, and then left to rest for another 30 days before they're sent to the U.S. to be roasted. The result are beans that produce a well-balanced cup of "medium-roast coffee with a nice 'wine-y' taste and notes of dried cherry, raisin, and plum."

3. Sustainable Coffee Production - Increasing demand for sustainably produced coffee presents an opportunity for coffee producers to implement environmentally friendly practices and attract eco-conscious customers.
Industry Implications
1. Specialty Coffee Shops - Small-batch and single-origin coffee trends could challenge specialty coffee shops to carry unique and high-quality beans to differentiate themselves from major chains.
2. Coffee Roasters - Sustainable coffee production trend may require roasters to change their sourcing practices, such as choosing fair trade-certified beans or implementing green packaging.
3. Grocery Stores - Appeal for small-batch coffee could prompt grocery stores to feature local or unique coffee brands and cater to consumers looking for higher quality and variety.
