Interior design studio Rosendale Design brought warm lighting into the Japanese steakhouse Aragawa in London with paper pendants. Each pendant is detailed with handpainted red and gold walls. Notably, this marks the first outpost overseas for the restaurant, nestled in Mayfair across two floors. The design is defined by its rich tonal palette of deep red, dark wood, and gold tones, heavily influenced by Japanese design.
Dale Atkinson, founder of the studio explains that the team approached the design with a contemporary angle and spotlights the hanging lanterns. Atkinson notes, "The lanterns are one of the key features that are first experienced at ground level but drop down through the opening in the floor and are then a prevalent feature in the main dining room. We looked at traditional Japanese lanterns and gave it a bit of a contemporary twist."
