Surfboard designer Tim Bessell recently incorporated famous Andy Warhol pop art images into his board designs. The result was a iconic and chic mashup of sport design and pop art culture.
Tim Bessell has crafted over 46,000 boards in his career as a surfboard designer. These surfboards feature a typical pointed-tip board design with a collection of Andy Warhol’s most famous pop art prints. A few of the prints included are the Campbell soup can, the famous Andy Warhol purple silk screen self-portrait, Elvis holding a gun and Marilyn Monroe. Many of the colors featured in the design have been heightened to extenuate the technicolor feel of Warhol’s work while out in the ocean.
The Andy Warhol-themed collection goes hand in hand with Andy Warhol’s 1970’s surfing film, San Diego Surf that will be showcasing in London, England’s StolenSpace Gallery/
