The mundane task of cleaning clothes is about to get a lot more fun thanks to the Amusement Washing Machine. The Amusement Washing Machine is a playable washing machine designed by Lee Wei Chen. The washing machine is designed to let your skills determine how long your wash goes for. Skilled players will have no problem playing their way through the spin and rinse cycles while unskilled players will constantly find themselves adding quarters to keep their laundry going.
The Amusement Washing Machine was designed for the London Design Festival at Tent. This means that the machine, while amazingly interesting, will probably never become more than an amazing piece of art. Still, I wouldn't be surprised if appliance makers took the interactive elements of the Amusement Washing Machine and incorporated them into future products. I'd kill for an Xbox 360-equipped washer and dryer.
