Alexandre Pain has designed a quirky table that is held together using only dowels and elastic bands called 'Dock.' The dowels also double as the table's legs, with the elastic bands providing the tension needed to keep the entire project together.
After seeing 'Dock,' you have to wonder what other types of furniture could successfully be designed using this low-tech approach. Putting together furniture is always a pain, no matter how helpful and animated the instruction booklet is. A whole line of furniture designed like Alexandre Pain's 'Dock' would be a God send to those (myself included) who often spend hours going from step one to step 10. In addition to being easier to make, a line of 'Dock' furniture would also be more eye-catching. After all, it's not everyday you see a table or chair held together by rope.
