A new retail experience has been unveiled by Albert Heijn at the Schiphol airport in a bid to allow visitors with a way to pick up essential items at their leisure. The digital store will be open for all visitors who pass through the airport and provides an autonomous shopping experience by allowing users to pick up items without the need to check out. Scanning a debit card at the entrance will provide access to the store where shoppers can simply take products they need and be charged automatically.
Head of Retail, Food and Beverage and Commercial Services at the Amsterdam Schiphol airport Irene Muysson spoke on the new shopping experience saying, "Speed and convenience are paramount for our travelers. We are therefore happy to give a stage to this innovation from Albert Heijn and we are naturally extremely proud that we can be the first to offer visitors to Schiphol the benefits of digital shopping. Albert Heijn and Schiphol have been working together for years. We are constantly looking at how we can improve the shopping experience, for example by using new digital technologies.”
