An artist based out of London named Alan Coulson has been doing some ultra realistic portrait paintings and his work is starting to get a lot of much deserved attention.
Alan has recently been awarded third place in the BP Portrait Award 2012 award ceremony this past June for his painting entitled “Richie Culver;” which features a friend of Alan’s. Working mainly with oil paints, Alan studied art and design at Harrogate College of Art and Design and this was his third time exhibiting in the BP Portrait Awards.
With portrait work seeming to be Alan’s main art form, each piece is very well thought out and meticulous. In regards to his Richie Culver painting, Alan says on his site, “My aim was to produce a direct and honest painting that would capture Richie’s unique appearance alongside his easygoing nature.”
