The Airberg Sofa from French designer John-Marie Massaud is designed to look like a floating iceberg. Massaud cleverly filled the sofa with lightweight padding to give the impression that it had been filled up with air.
The designers says he created the contemporary seating because he wanted to: "break the conventions of what typical seating objects look like" and to develop a shape that looked like an "air-filled iceberg."
Massuad collaborated with Swedish manufacturer Offecct for the prototype range. This sofa is a streamlined and contemporary piece which would look great in a modern home or in the waiting room of a business. This is just one instance of designers turning to the natural world for inspiration. The sofas are available in a number of sizes and also come with matching armchairs.
