Air by Microclimate is a helmet that combines a washable black fabric piece, a clear acrylic half-dome and a built-in ventilation system for easy breathing. The design was devised to create a "microclimate" around the head and it was adapted to suit the needs of people during a pandemic—now, Air by Microclimate is available for pre-order.
The comfortable and lightweight headpiece filters air through replaceable HEPA filters and it helps to address the need for better masks that are protective and promote visibility. While not suited to everyday, medical or educational use, the helmet has the potential to give people a clearly defined personal bubble while traveling.
Already, there are improvements that are being made to the design, so that people will be able to hear better or drink from the helmet using a straw port.
