The air conditioner is a gadget that rarely receives technological updates but LG Electronics USA's new line of AI-powered air conditioners aim to be a huge technological upgrade to the window air conditioning unit. This AI functionality comes thanks to the Wi-Fi capability of the line, which also allows users to control the appliances using LG's SmartThingQ smartphone app. The AI capability allows the units to be operated using voice commands with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant.
In addition to being AI-powered air conditions, the new line of LG units also won numerous awards for their eco-friendly nature. The units have already acquired the first 2018 EPA Energy Star Emerging Technology Award, thanks to their energy efficient dual inverter compressors. These compressors result in 45-40 percent energy efficiency when compared to traditional AC units.
