Ahluwalia Uses Patterns and Drapery to Pay Homage to Africa
For the first time, Priya Ahluwalia has added menswear offerings to Ahluwalia’s growing collection of culture-based apparel. Showcased in London, the new collection uses patterns and textures to convey the founder’s African and Indian heritage and creativity. The collection also uses African football uniform motifs, which are contrasted alongside bold tones of green, orange, brown, and royal blue on formal two-piece sets.
The collection employs a variety of shawls, scarves, and coverings that can be draped over the shoulder for an elevated look, while other pieces utilize Ahluwalia branding and ‘A’ motifs. Ahluwalia’s attention to detail and willingness to experiment with a variety of patterns is what differentiates it from other contemporary names in fashion.
