Agata Kurzela Studio Rewors a Floor of a Heritage Building
Amy Duong — November 7, 2023 — Art & Design
Dubai-based interior design firm Agata Kurzela Studio reworks the top floor of a heritage building in Abu Dhabi to create an office space for an Emirati government bureau. This department oversees the large public architecture projects in the area and it is found on the waterfront area of Khor Al Maqta.
The floor's space is meant for prestigious developments by the government and the designer explains that she cannot reveal its name. Kurzela explains, "We needed to provide a reception space open to the main building while providing privacy to the main office. This bold sculptural element creates a beacon that signals the entrance and brings order to multiple competing geometries of the original building."
