Located within a mall inside the sprawling Hakata Railway Station, the Aesop Fukuoka boutique is the latest retail concept launched by the cult Australian cosmetics brand. The minimalist boutique was designed by Shinichiro Ogata of Tokyo-based Simplicity studio.
Following in line with the themes forward by Aesop's other stylized boutiques, the retail space is also inspired by the Hakata neighborhood's history as a base for diplomacy and trade. Stacked timber boxes and discreet lighting make for a romantic and ethereal retail experience. The glowing shop boasts golden-hued walls that make the space enticing in that one is compelled to enter and explore it further.
The Aesop Fukuoka store opening follows three consecutive openings by the brand in Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka.
