The TIWA Gallery in New York's TriBeCa is adorned with 'A Realm of Light,' which is a series of illuminations defined by flames and oil lamps. These are encased in glass and suspended in the air with darkened brass chains which are designed by Lindsey Adelman. These lights are made with the collaborative efforts of glassblowing designer Michiko Sakano and textile artist Sarah Nsikak. The lamps hang from different heights and feature four configurations including single, double, triple, and eight-lamp chandeliers.
Adelman speaks about her relationship with light, stating “This collection has allowed me to reflect on the building blocks of light, why I’m drawn to working with light, why I’m a lighting designer. [...] Sculpting with fire is completely different from designing for electricity: fire is magical and dangerous, beyond your control, and yet demanding of your complete attention.”
