Local designer Laurids Gallée has presented a new range of lighting with the collection of Cairn lamps. This is comprised of large resin lights which is made with collaborative efforts with design gallery Collectional as a part of the first Design Biennale Rotterdaem.
The series highlights six new products dubbed Cairn, and it is made up of large blocks of resin which has been sculpted, sanded, and polished to result in a clear liquid-like finish. Gallée explains, "The series explores how light interacts with transparent materials. More than shaping resin, I wanted to shape the way the light moves within the material. In some of my other light work I play with quickly moving parallel lines, which feels a bit psychedelic, but here, I wanted something calmer, where light feels almost liquid."
