The current world’s largest pool resides at the San Alfonso del Mar Resort in Chile. It is one kilometer in length and covers an area of 8 hectares.
Crystal Lagoons, the group responsible for this Guinness World Record-holding design, is planning to one-up their masterpiece by creating an even larger pool.
Set to be finished in July 2009 as part of a $5.5 billion real estate development, the city of Sharm el Sheik, Egypt will house 12 giant lagoons, the largest of which measures 8.8 hectares in size. It is being called the City of Stars.
