31/44 Architects director WIll Burges has designed the 6 Columns home, which was created for his family in Southeast London's Crystal Palace. It is defined by its columned entrance which is joined by a two-story structure and four bedrooms -- all of which are made with brick and have concrete beams. The home nods to the California Case Study houses with an open plan living space and traditional bedrooms.
Burges explains the design process to Dezeen, noting that "Because there was a failed planning application we knew we had to make the story quite obvious and strong. We always start with context at 31/44 Architects. We like things to be at some level part of the background or the natural fabric of the place so they feel like they belong."
