From Senior Citizen Caped Crusaders to Gangster Batman
Andrew Robertson — June 5, 2012 — Pop Culture
If you think superheroes are all proud, glamorous, tough-as-nails crime fighters, take a look at this degrading superhero portrayal and witness how even masked vigilantes can fall from grace.
Comic books and movies never really explore the possibilities that one day superheroes will age. Batman, Iron Man and The Hulk, while a force to be reckoned with in their heyday, their real challenge will come in their senior years as illustrated by Donald Soffritti and Calvin Ma.
While its comforting to think of superheroes as invincible, virtuous idols in defense of all that is good and pure, artwork portraying the potential for temptation and injury is a comical change of pace. Don Lucho's dead Superman art installation takes a difference approach to the popular crime fighter.
