From Multi-Sensory Dining Experiences to Interactive Social Cinemas
Katherine Pendrill — May 28, 2017 — Tech
As the May 2017 multimedia trends reveal, immersive, technology-driven experiences are in greater demand than ever before. Whether it is for promotional or entertainment purposes, multimedia experiences are a hit among increasingly tech-savvy consumers.
Brands are particularly fond of technology-driven experiences, as it provides the consumer with a way to experience a product with nearly all of their senses. For instance, Expedia is currently developing VR hotel listings so that consumers can get a better idea of their accommodations before they book.
On the entertainment front, brands are using multiple different types of media to make experiences more immersive for consumers. For instance, the Venezuelan movie chain Cinex allows members of the audience to tweet live on the big screen while watching a movie. Another example is the multisensory dining experience created by Japan's teamLab, which combines food, music and visual installations all at once.
