From Impact Investor Networks to Legal Advice for Farmers
Tiana Reid — June 15, 2013 — Social Good
These law-related social enterprises consider law to be how they intersect into social change. For instance, Farm Commons is a non-profit organization that gives legal advice to farmers so that they can support their small businesses and create holistic food systems.
And one of these examples, Still the Sea, actually isn't quite related to law at all, well at least not in the straightforward sense that the others are. Rather, its founder and CEO is a former corporate lawyer who now works as a consultant and started the social business, which sells yoga mats and accessories as a way to raise funds for human trafficking causes. Nevertheless, it shows how these law-related social enterprises use their experiences as an entryway into the social entrepreneurship sphere.
