From GPS Life Preservers to Inflatable Bikinis

There will be a record number of people hitting the beach this summer if any of these futuristic buoyancy boosters ever go from concept to reality. After sharks, a fear of drowning is the number one thing that keeps people out of the water. These futuristic buoyancy boosters are designed to allay that fear, and some of them -- the life preserver bazooka for example -- even look as if they could be capable of keeping sharks away.
A handful of these devices are designed for personal use, but most of these futuristic buoyancy boosters are meant to be used by lifeguards and in emergency situations only. Lifeguards have a tough job as it is, so it's nice to see modern designers creating tools to make their job a bit easier.
