Design is inspired by many different things, but many of those things seem to involve creatures of one sort or another. From leopard skins to these fish scale innovations, there's no end to what can influence the aesthetics of a certain device, fashion or whatnot.
Although from the look of these few fish scale innovations, it seems that our underwater friends predominantly inspire fashion--I wouldn't be surprised to see the fad branch out to other industries, as it has with certain gadgets already.
