These Scary Marketing Campaigns Promote Discovery Shark Week
Laura McQuarrie — July 17, 2014 — Marketing
With Discovery Shark Week right around the corner, you can expect to find the finned creatures everywhere. Residents of Ontario recently got a scare over a reported shark sighting in Lake Ontario, but this was revealed to be just a promotional hoax for the highly-anticipated upcoming TV event.
If you've ever watched Shark Week, you know that there are plenty of stories where these vicious sea predators have absolutely totaled the metal cages that are designed to protect divers when they go underwater to swim alongside these monsters. Rather than sending a human undersea, last year as part of a Shark Week initiative, an underwater Volkswagen Beetle was sent down to drive and capture footage of the creatures, showing off the power of the vehicle at the same time.
