From Public Charging Pods to Self-Charging Cloud Tables

Since there have been few improvements that make fixed wall outlets better as mobile device-charging stations, the next best thing is being introduced with furniture. Whether it's fixed or movable, furniture offers more flexibility and mobility than a wall unit. While there are plenty of examples of furniture pieces with built-in spots for charging with a cable, the next iteration of this idea is to go completely wireless.
As an affordable furniture retailer, IKEA is leading the pack with this, as it introduced a collection of bedside tables, desks and lamps that are able to charge mobile gadgets wirelessly. Similarly, as a hub for laptop and mobile phone users, Starbucks has begun rolling out wireless charging mats in its stores.
The city of Boston is also very forward-thinking when it comes to the public's need for device charging and the environment, as its gadget-charging 'Soofas' are powered by the sun.
