These Futuristic Innovations Maintain Human and Automotive Health

Just as routine car maintenance leads to good automotive health, key players in the auto industry are putting biometric systems to use for the upkeep of mental, physical and emotional well-being of drivers and passengers. Some of the most standout examples of this include projects like Jaguar's Mind Sense, Toyota's use of Kinect technology to identify owners, the health-monitoring Kia Cub Concept and the drowsiness-detecting 2016 Nissan Maxima. In terms of show, the Lexus RC F 'Heartbeat Car' combines biometric technology with electro-luminescent exterior paint to display the driver's pulse.
Beyond comfort and safety, other factors are now being considered to maintain a driver's wellness. Systems like Faurecia's Active Wellness driver seat, the Automatic device used with Jawbone UP and State Farm's Emotion Management concept for insurance are all designed to detect and de-escalate symptoms of road rage. In doing so, drivers assure their own well-being, as well as safety for others sharing the road.
While it may seem like the future of automotive technology is far away, for the moment, it's feasible for people to purchase add-on accessories like smart steering wheels, headbands and wearables to monitor health and wellness in-car, rather than purchasing a brand new car with these built-in biometric systems. However, in the years to come, biometric systems could be as common as car entertainment systems.
