The skies are getting crowded, yet in our environmentally troubled minds the extensive pollution that airplanes burden our atmosphere with is always a grave issue. In tune with the concerns of our times, designers are offering fresh and innovative solutions based on a more traditional flying mode of transportation: the airship.
Admired in stellar films such as the Indiana Jones movies, zeppelins are compelling structures that oddly combine size and delicacy. What is more, though, they offer much cleaner means of navigation.
Still, the idea of balloon-aided air travel is being manipulated in a surprising number of novel and creative ways, bestowing the marvel of flight to representatives not only of the animate kingdom but also of the inanimate world. And for creativity, the sky is the limit!
