Sticky notes were once only known as convenient adhesive note pads, but these days, the Post-It note has a much greater purpose, unlike other stationary materials.
Check out the slide show below for all things post-its, with everything from skirts and dresses made of sticky paper, to public service announcements and stop-motion videos.
Implications - When something extends beyond its original purpose, its probability of becoming iconic is heightened. Post-its are a great example, as they have transcended their purpose of simple office stationary and crossed over to art medium, fashionable fabric and much more. This is an example of brand hijacking, which involves a consumer group using a product in a way it wasn't intended to be used and thus, bringing it to viral success.
