Zero-Waste Tequilas

Tequila Cazadores Produces Sustainable Tequila in a Seven-Step Process

Cazadores, a tequila distillery based in Mexico, has created a seven-step production process that creates zero-waste tequila. Cazadores has already been recognized by Bacardi Good Spirit for its eco-friendly practices and as part of the Barcadi label, also follows the brand's ban on straws in an effort to reduce single-use plastic.

To produce zero-waste tequila, the distillery uses a biomass boiler -- a system that produces the fuel need to make the tequila from organic materials. All the materials used are local and from carbon-neutral sources such as tree cuttings, used agave, and waste wood.

With sustainability top of mind for many consumers, the zero-waste practice will likely be a core value for the alcohol industry going forward.
