Industrial design firm Bilio is already well-versed in zero-waste, sustainable manufacturing processes and it is extending its expertise to the creation of zero-waste face masks. The knit face masks take shape thanks to a zero-waste knitting process, which allows for the masks to be made in a single piece, even when different materials and components are needed.
As Bilio makes bags with pockets and straps that don't need to be sewn up, the mask follows the same principles so that not even a scrap of excess is generated. The washable and reusable zero-waste knit masks are non-medical yet essential for freeing up medical-grade PPE for those on the front lines. There are two kinds of masks—Koala and Kangaroo—one of which includes a design with a filter pouch.
