Zaha Hadid's Homeware collection, which will be available at the London department store Harrods, is comprised of sculptural-looking vessels, candlesticks and a one-of-a-kind chess set.
The collection is very reflective of Hadid's signature aesthetic; each item looks almost as though it could be one of her statuesque buildings, scaled down in size. Zaha Hadid Design director Woody Yao confirms that the pieces are indeed a "subtle reference" to the architect's work. For example, the collection's 'Aqua Platter' is intended to parallel Hadid's design for the 2012 Olympic Aquatic Center in London.
The collection uses a diverse range of material, from bone china and cermic, to acrylic and resin. The majority of the collection is in black or white, or both, with slight hints of pink and green interspersed among the monochrome.
