3D Revolving Storybooks

Yusuke Oono Uses Laser Cut Technology to Bring Stories to Life

Using laser cut technology, Yusuke Oono, a partner at Noiz Architects, recreated the traditional storytelling method with a new 360 book.

The three-dimensional world created by Yusuke Oono can open up 360 degrees, converting into a beautiful decorative display. Each page was intricately carved using lasers to reflect the fantastical scenery of childhood storybook. The delicate book brings storytelling to life, inviting readers to inspect and submerge themselves into the tale telling art.

An international panel of judges gathered to critique the submissions in a sponsored contest hosted by the Fab Cafe, which invited designers to come up with new ways to forge their creations using the typical industrial tool. The 3D book by Yusuke Oono was the winner in the free-form category of this year’s You Fab 2012 Design Contest.
